ABOUT US

Mt Iron Geodrill is based in Wanaka, Central Otago, New Zealand. It is owned and operated by Gavin and Karen Tippett. 

Gavin was born and raised on a farm in Southland, New Zealand, and studied at Canterbury University where he earned his Master of Science (Engineering Geology) degree. Gavin Has over 17 years experience, in which time he has worked for geotechnical consultancies in New Zealand and Australia, and has gained diverse experience over a wide range of projects from single house lots to large scale mining operations.

Gavin is responsible for our geotechnical investigation and reporting.  

Karen has a background in nursing and design, and apart from some infrequent first aid and training the next generation of nurses and geologists, she keeps the administration side of the business running smoothly. 

Gavin is a chartered member of Engineering New Zealand (PEngGeol) and a member of Water New Zealand, New Zealand Geotechnical Society, International Association of Engineering Geology (IAEG) and International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE)
