MT IRON GEODRILL

WITH OVER 17 YEARS experience, GAVIN CAN UNDERTAKE THE FOLLOWING TO HELP WITH YOUR PROJECT

STORM-WATER ASSESSMENT & DESIGN

We measure the amount of water the ground can take. Then we design a soak pit that fits your site, soil conditions, and expected rainfall.

Waste-water Assessment & DESIGN

Most rural and many semi-rural sites require on-site waste-water disposal. We assess the soil conditions at your site and provide a system specification design and disposal area size based on your development plans and soils. We also provide a report which is required by Council for your consent. Please note we do not do the installation of systems.

We are part of the New Zealand Independent Designers Network and a member of the Water New Zealand On Site Wastewater Management System (OWMS) Special Interest Group.

Natural Hazard Assessment

We assess your site for hazards such as landslides, flooding risk, and faults. We provide a report which identifies these hazards and the impact they would have on your development. We also provide mitigation and remediation options which may allow your development to go ahead.

LIQUEFACTION ASSESSMENT

We undertake liquefaction assessments for sites ranging in size from house lots right through to large multi-lot sub-divisions.  We work in accordance with National and local Council requirements and utilise on-site investigation backed up by computer-based analysis.  Where necessary we use deep investigation techniques to provide the required data to ensure that your project has the right design information.

Slope Stability

If you are building on a sloping site then slope stability is important. We go to site and assess the soil. We look for signs of historic movement both in the soil and the landforms on and around the site.  We provide you with a report detailing any areas that may be or could become unstable and give you options on how to deal with it.

Pre-Purchase Assessment

Buying a block of land for your dream home or commercial development is a big thing, so you want to know that there won't be any surprises when you start to build.  We can give you peace of mind that the ground is not going to be one of those surprises. Our assessments include slope stability, natural hazard assessment and bearing capacity in a report format, so you can make an informed choice about purchasing the block of land. We undertake our assessment with minimal disturbance to the site

Geotechnical assessment

A full geotechnical assessment is designed to meet the requirements for resource and/or building consent. They can be very basic retaining wall parameters, or a detailed assessment of a number of issues. Every project is different and the outcome required means a different approach is required for each. We provide detailed reports with options to help manage any issues identified.

Bearing Capacity

The New Zealand Standard for Timber Framed Buildings (NZS3604:2011) states that buildings should be built on "good ground". But how do you know if you are on good ground? We can undertake a bearing capacity assessment which conforms to the Standard, and provide you with a short report which confirms whether the site is "good ground" or not.

General

All of our reports include maps and diagrams to allow for easy understanding of our results.
